Jeremy Langston Professor Reppert Mass Communication September 3, 2020 Word count: 1090             Personal Media Usage       I use mass media quite a bit more than I thought before this assignment. I probably use less media than the average person though. I am an artist, musician, and photographer besides being a student, so my usage generally revolves around art and my education. On a daily basis, I use mass media to communicate with people, get news & entertainment, showcase and promote my artwork, and keep up with my coursework.     In the mornings, I check the YouTube channels I follow and see who’s posted new videos. YouTube is how I like to keep up with the news. Then I check Instagram for new posts from the artists I follow. I spend about 15 to 30 minutes scrolling through posts among Facebook and Instagram. Jeremy Langston MCOM1003 Professor Reppert 8-25-20 Media Quiz 1 1) El Dorado High student wants to raise awareness about teen suicide.  Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young Americans between the ages of 15-24.  Kayla Hill, a junior at El Dorado High School is organizing an event on September 5 to bring awareness to teens as well as the community at large. Hill explained in an interview that she wanted the community to be made aware of the resources that are available for struggling teens. (El Dorado News-Times) 2) School year's start full of firsts in Arkansas and enthusiasm seen in spite of challenges. Several students began their school year at home, instead of the classroom.
